If you haven’t watched American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson yet, do yourself a favor and watch the best miniseries I’ve seen this year. It just won Best Miniseries at the Emmy’s this past weekend and one of its stars, Sarah Paulson won Best Supporting Actress in a Miniseries for her amazing portrayal of Marcia Clark. She has become one of the best actresses on television since working with frequent collaborator Ryan Murphy and now she’s co-starring in a romance film with Mark Duplass who is best known for television as well starring in The League and Togetherness called Blue Jay.

I have to say, this film looks fantastic. I’m a big fan of independent movies and always have been and these are two of the best actors working mostly in independents and though they both need to get more mainstream work; I love that they’re starring in Blue Jay together. The film follows former high school sweethearts Jim and Amanda (Duplass and Paulson respectively), who meet up unexpectedly for the first time in over 20 years. They decide to rekindle and hangout for a bit at Jim’s mother’s house where everything sends them spiraling back into the past.

Blue Jay looks to be an authentic romance film and take a look at something that could very easily happen for anyone at any time. The fact that the movie was filmed in black and white also adds to the uniqueness of the movie which is the feature debut for director, Alex Lehmann. Check out the trailer for the movie below. Blue Jay arrives in theaters on October 7th.
