It’s always good to keep it in the family. According to The Playlist, Max Landis will write and direct a remake of his father’s horror/comedy An American Werewolf in London. This project has been in the works since about 2010 and now, John Landis’ son has taken the reigns on the remake.

Landis has a big personality and doesn’t have much to back his stock up with, but he did write Chronicle and American Ultra. In addition to that, he’s writing the script for the Netflix exclusive, Bright which will be directed by David Ayer and star Will Smith and Joel Edgerton. His father, on the other hand, has a huge reputation for being a legendary comedy director with films like Animal House, The Blues Brothers, Trading Places and Three Amigos just to name a few.

This will by far be Max Landis’ biggest project yet and all the responsibility will be on his shoulders; having said that, I believe he will do a great job with this movie. It’s quite possible that no other person in Hollywood has a more personal connection to this movie and that’s why I think passion will drive him to make a good feature remake of one of his dad’s classic movies.
