Finally, the casting is underway for the sequel to one of the highest grossing films of all time, Jurassic World. According to Collider, Toby Jones and Rafe Spall have joined Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard in the (currently titled) upcoming Jurassic World 2.

As one of the only people who has not seen Jurassic World, I cannot comment on how this will extend upon the universe but I do know that I’m a fan of both of these actors. Jones, in my eyes is one of the most underrated actors in the industry today. Spall on the other hand, I haven’t seen in much but he was one of the only good parts within the Showtime series Roadies that was very recently cancelled.

The first film within the universe acted as a “rebootquel” to the original trilogy and was directed by Colin Trevorrow. Off the success of the movie, he landed a job directing Star Wars: Episode IX which meant that there was a void for the director’s chair until J.A. Bayona stepped up to the plate. Bayona is best known for helming The Impossible and his upcoming film, A Monster Calls is currently being labeled as one of the frontrunners for Best Picture at the Oscars.

Jones is set to have a vital role in the upcoming season of Sherlock but also is set to have roles in the upcoming thrillers The Coldest City which stars Charlize Theron, James McAvoy and John Goodman and also, a movie I’m very much looking forward to, The Snowman which also stars Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Ferguson, Val Kilmer and J.K. Simmons. Spall, on the other hand had nothing of note upcoming before being cast in this film but he did appear in Spielberg’s latest movie, The BFG back in July.

What do you guys think about the additions for the cast of the sequel to Jurassic World? Do you think the sequel will make more at the box office than the massive $1.67 billion haul the first film had? The sequel opens in theaters on July 22, 2018.
