Matt Reeves Begins to Further Plot His Gotham Universe as Cristin Milioti is Cast in HBO Max's, 'The Penguin'

The Batman was one of the more unique and distinctive comic book films ever made. Matt Reeves crafted something that felt deeply different than the past incarnations of the caped crusader creating a version of Gotham that felt vivid, gritty and dark. One of the better performances in the film was Colin Farrell's unrecognizable version of Oswald Cobblepot, or his villainous alter ego, The Penguin

Farrell's interpretation of the character was so well received, that he's due to get a TV spinoff on HBO Max and a new piece of casting is in the news today. Cristin Milioti, best known for her roles in Palm Springs and FX's Fargo, has been cast as Sofia Falcone. Falcone is the daughter of Carmine Falcone, a Gotham crime boss who was played by John Turturro in The Batman

Though the series is due to center around The Penguin, Sofia Falcone is due to battle with Farrell's character for control of the city of Gotham following the events of the 2022 film, which also starred Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz. I think Milioti is a very underrated actress, who I loved in particular in USS Callister, an installment of the anthology series, Black Mirror

Milioti is coming off of the first season of Peacock's, The Resort in which she is the female lead and also, had a supporting role in The Wolf of Wall Street. What do you guys think of Cristin Milioti's casting in the upcoming HBO Max series, The Penguin? Who else would you like to see join the cast of the first show in Matt Reeves' Batman universe?
