by Darian Scalamoni

Welcome to my new column I'll drop every Monday, titled, What's New This Week? This new column will cover the best upcoming shows and movies making their debuts on Streaming and Broadcast television every week. With the push for more and more content being released almost daily, this will be your place to read about what you can tune into for the week ahead!

Blockbuster on November 3rd (Netflix)
I'm sure you can't believe your eyes but, yes, it is true. Netflix is releasing a new comedy series based on the last Blockbuster video store in existence starring Randall Park, who is best known for his role on ABC's Fresh off the Boat and Melissa Fumero, who is best known for her role on the NBC/FOX series, Brooklyn Nine-Nine. It's ironic that the streaming giant is the service that is producing this series as Netflix is largely the reason that Blockbuster Video no longer exists. Curb Your Enthusiasm's JB Smoove and American Vandal's Tyler Alvarez also star in Blockbuster which will debut on Netflix this Thursday, November 3rd.

Causeway on November 3rd (AppleTV+)
Jennifer Lawrence's last feature was another movie made for streaming, Netflix's controversial climate change dramedy, Don't Look Up alongside a starry cast that also featured Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill and Meryl Streep. Her next film is a much more intimate and personal story for AppleTV+. Causeway follows Lynsey, a U.S. soldier who suffers a traumatic brain injury and is trying to adjust to a life back home after service. Lawrence is already being praised for her performance and she acts alongside Brian Tyree Henry, who is one of the best up-and-coming actors in the industry today. Henry is best known for playing Paper Boi in FX's, Atlanta but also recently featured in Bullet Train and Marvel's Eternals. Causeway will debut on AppleTV+ this Friday, November 4th

My Policeman on November 4th (Amazon Prime Video)
Harry Styles is currently one of the most recognizable stars on the planet. Styles is coming off of a multi-platinum album, a worldwide tour selling out arenas and a leading role in Olivia Wilde's, Don't Worry, Darling. He's now following it up with another leading role in the romance film, My Policeman for Amazon Prime Video. Styles stars alongside The Crown's Emma Corrin and David Dawson as Tom, a young policeman who marries Corrin's character amidst being gay and in a relationship with another man. The ripple effects of these circumstances go on to impact the three of them for 40 years. Styles is being lauded for My Policeman as some are saying it's the best performance of his young acting career.  My Policeman will debut on Amazon Prime Video this Friday, November 4th.

Enola Holmes 2 on November 4th (Netflix)
Millie Bobby Brown became a superstar with Netflix's most well-known original series, Stranger Things so it makes sense that the actress also leads one of its best performing original film franchises as well. Brown is back as Enola Holmes, the younger sister of the famous detective, Sherlock, in the sequel to the 2020 film. This time, Enola Holmes is finally a detective-for-hire and gets her first case looking for a missing girl, which might lead to a mysterious conspiracy in town. Henry Cavill and Helena Bonham Carter return as Sherlock Holmes and their mother, Eudoria, respectively. While David Thewlis makes his debut in the film franchise. Enola Holmes 2 will debut on Netflix this Friday, November 4th.
