Many can describe the current state of our world as one that is divided, at best. Sometimes, filmmakers try to heal their own frustrations and opinions through art, and the first trailer for Alex Garland's Civil War is a perfect example of that.

The trailer is filled with angst amongst the leading characters, coupled with a speech given by the film's President, played by Nick Offerman (The Last of Us). It appears that he is at war with the "Western Forces" of California and Texas.

Alex Garland, who burst onto the scene with his inventive sci-fi drama Ex Machina which released in 2014 and starred Oscar Isaac, Alicia Vikander and Domhnall Gleeson. He has since become a creative force in the film and television space, having written and directed other original concepts that include Annihilation, Men and FX's series, Devs
