Ridley Scott, Dan Gilroy and Greta Gerwig all set Oscar season release dates for their respective films

By Darian Scalamoni
With Summer blockbuster season rapidly nearing its end, most of our movie news has been based around whatever films we’ll be seeing come Oscar season. Well, we now know that three more films are going to be joining the always crowded race for those coveted golden statues.

The first film is Greta Gerwig’s solo directorial debut titled Lady Bird. The movie follows a teenager who lives in Sacramento taking off to live in New York City. Lady Bird stars Saoirse Ronan, Laurie Metcalf, Lucas Hedges, Timothee Chalamet and Tracy Letts and looks to be in the same vein of Frances Ha.

The next two films just started filming recently but are almost wrapped and are having very quick turnarounds to hit theaters in December and November, respectively. The first is All the Money in the World, Ridley Scott’s latest that stars Mark Wahlberg, Kevin Spacey and Michelle Williams which follows the kidnapping of John Paul Getty III, the heir to the Getty oil fortune. This is not to get confused with the FX series, Trust, about the same topic that hits TV screens in January and stars Hilary Swank, Brendan Fraser and Donald Sutherland. All the Money in the World will hit theaters on December 8th.

The last movie is formerly known as Inner City, now going by the title of Roman Israel, Esq. Directed by Dan Gilroy, who last blessed us with the amazing film, Nightcrawler directs Denzel Washington as a Los Angeles attorney who is offered a job at a prestigious law firm after his longtime partner dies. He then takes on a massive case that could have some long-term repercussions. Washington stars alongside Colin Farrell and Carmen Ejogo in the crime/drama that has a limited release on November 3rd and could hit wide release later in the month.

These are three movies that I’m absolutely enticed to see but what do you guys think? Are you excited for Lady Bird? All the Money in the World? Roman Israel, Esq? Let us know in the comment section!
