When it was first announced that there would be a reboot of Hellboy, many thought it was way too soon. It’s only been nine years since the last time a big screen adaptation of the comic book character was last seen when Ron Perlman portrayed the character in Hellboy II: The Golden Army. Now, Stranger Things’ David Harbour is taking on the role in an R-rated, darker version and we have the first images of him as the titular character.

The black and white picture above clearly shows a different take on the character, he looks much more intimidating and could be feared by many. The second photo below also showcases the deeper red look compared to the brighter “fire engine” red that Perlman sported which looked a bit cartoony. These photos have got me pumped for the movie though, especially with Harbour in the lead role.

Check out the photos of Harbour as Hellboy! The movie is being directed by Neil Marshall (The Descent) and stars Harbour, Milla Jovovich, Ian McShane and Daniel Dae Kim. Hellboy hits theaters on January 11th, 2019.
