Many have wondered what the new Power Rangers movie will look like since the producers pitched it as a grittier approach to the classic lore. Luckily today, the teaser trailer was released online and we get a look at the teenagers for the first time.

The film follows a group of teenagers who are outsiders and come into contact with something extraordinary that gives them incredible abilities that enriches but also endangers their lives. This version of the Mighty Morphin’ heroes looks to be in the same vein as Josh Trank’s Chronicle. I still have yet to determine whether it’s a good thing or a bad thing as I need to see a bit more footage before giving it fair judgement.

The usual iterations of the Power Rangers on TV are usually more colorful and corny so it’s an interesting approach from director Dean Israelite (Project Almanac) to take the Rangers in this direction.
