With
the Toronto International Film Festival currently going on, we’re getting
plenty of Oscar buzz from multiple films. One of those is Scott Cooper’s (Out of the Furnace, Crazy Heart)
upcoming western, Hostiles and we
have the trailer for you below.
Hostiles tells the story of a U.S.
Cavalry officer who is ordered to accompany a Cheyenne war chief and his family
back to their homeland in Montana. The bigger issue is that the Captain, played
by Christian Bale must help his mortal enemy, Chief Yellow Hawk to safety,
regardless of his racist views.
This
trailer showcases a very raw, emotional journey for all of the characters
involved and based on the glimmering review from TIFF, I’m even more excited
for this film that I thought I could be. The cast is one of the better
ensembles in recent years and will reunite Cooper with Bale, who starred in Out of the Furnace. Though I wasn’t a
huge fan of the latter, Black Mass,
which came close to garnering Johnny Depp an Oscar nomination as Whitey Bulger
was one of my favorite gangster movies in recent memory.
Check
out the trailer below for Hostiles.
The movie stars Bale, Rosamund Pike, Wes Studi, Adam Beach, Ben Foster, Jesse
Plemons, Rory Cochrane and Q’orianka Kilcher. Hostiles has yet to get
distribution from a studio so no release date is set but expect it to hit
theaters later this year!
