Years
ago, do you think anyone predicted that we’d be seeing Disney animated classics
being adapted for the big screen yet again but in live-action format? I know I
didn’t; but after the success and incredible visuals of 2016’s, The Jungle Book it was pretty much a
foregone conclusion that the house of the mouse would be doing plenty more live-action
remakes of their animated fare. Last night, on Thanksgiving, we were lucky
enough to receive the teaser trailer for The
Lion King and it’s incredible.
The
trailer is essentially a shot-for-shot remake of the first trailer for the
original 1994 animated flick. The CGI is devastatingly beautiful and though we
only get a few shots of iconic characters such as Simba and Rafiki, we’re
already watering at the mouth for more from this film. I believe it could become
the highest-grossing film of all-time, that’s just an early prediction based on
this tease. Jon Favreau, who directed the live-action, The Jungle Book will direct the film and he already seems like the
perfect choice.
Check
out the first teaser for 2019’s, The Lion
King below! The movie hits theaters on July 19th and stars
Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Keegan-Michael Key, James Earl
Jones, Billy Eichner, Alfre Woodard, John Oliver and Beyonce.
