There’s
been a recent boom in anime especially for Netflix providing tons of new
content for the growing community. Now, they’re going to bring a live-action
version of a cult classic anime series to life. According to Variety, Netflix has ordered a
live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop.
The
series is described as jazz-inspired story of a crew of bounty hunters that are
more-or-less an island of misfit toys. The group is comprised of Spike Spiegel,
Jet Black, Faye Valentine and Radical Ed as they’re on the run from their pasts
to hunt down some of the most dangerous criminals in the solar system but only for
the right price. Netflix has ordered 10 episodes.
Shinichiro
Watanabe, who directed the original anime, will serve as a consultant on the
project while the series will be a co-production between Netflix and Tomorrow
Studios. Cowboy Bebop was a massive
success even though the original show lasted only 26 episodes.
Cowboy Bebop is the latest Netflix
series adapting anime or animated fare for live-action as they released Death Note last year starring Nat Wolff
and Lakeith Stanfield and recently announced a live-action series based on Avatar: The Last Airbender was in the
works as well.
