Since
this site’s inception, there have been tons of projects that I have reported on
which have been produced and released. Over that period, the same could be said
for a number of projects that have been stuck in development, but this project
is one I’ve been looking forward to since forever and am hoping this is the
push it needs to get going. According to Collider,
the long in-development, Console Wars
will be adapted as a limited series with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg to
produce. In addition, Jordan Vogt-Roberts will direct the project.
The series
is based off the book, Console Wars: Sega,
Nintendo and the Battle that Defined a Generation, written by Blake J.
Harris which chronicles the behind-the-scenes battles between Sega and Nintendo
in the 1990s for control of the video game scene. Rogen and Goldberg signed on
to adapt the book for the screen as a feature film back in 2014, but due to
problems getting it off the ground, they have since decided that a limited
series would be the proper form of storytelling.
Vogt-Roberts
previously directed Kong: Skull Island
and has been trying to helm another video game related project for years, Metal Gear Solid. It’s because of that,
I have faith in him to finally bring this limited series to fruition for his
love of video gaming in general. He also has experience in television having
directed multiple episodes of the FXX comedy series, You’re the Worst.
I was
born in the mid-90s so this project intrigues me more than most. I was a huge
fan of both the Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis consoles, so I can’t wait to see
more of the long-lasting feud between video game developers. Console Wars has yet to be attached to a
network but when we get that information, we’ll be sure to update you with that
information!
