The People vs. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story has brought OJ Simpson back into the limelight as a subject of fantastic television. It was also the role of Johnnie Cochran, the defense attorney who was somewhat responsible for Simpson being ruled not guilty by the jury played by Courtney B. Vance in the series that stole scenes from other brilliant actors. The fascinating story that followed Cochran has now led to a feature film being developed about him and an actor has been cast officially.

According to Collider, Anthony Mackie who most recently was seen in Captain America: Civil War as Falcon and HBO’s All the Way as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will play Cochran for Justin Chadwick (The Other Boleyn Girl, Mandela: The Long Walk to Freedom). This is a juicy role to follow his tremendous performance as MLK Jr. and it won’t follow the OJ case at all.

The movie will take a look at another important case in Cochran’s career, the Signal Hill police brutality case that ripped apart Los Angeles in the 80s. Mackie has been known for mixing it up and becoming quite the diverse actor as of late, this role could add to his list of great roles potentially if done right.
