Kate Winslet to Join Idris Elba in 'The Mountain Between Us'

         Idris Elba is one of the best working actors today and he might be joined by an Oscar-winning actress in a film coming soon. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kate Winslet is in talks to join Elba in The Mountain Between Us. The romantic survival drama follows an author (who would be Winslet’s character) and a surgeon (Elba) who share a charter plane together after the last outgoing flight has been cancelled due to an approaching storm. The plane then crashes and the pair must work together to survive in a snowy wilderness.

In terms of the production team, Chris Weitz (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, About a Boy) has written the most recent draft of the script and Hany Abu-Assad (Paradise Now, Omar) is in line to direct. The studio is aiming to roll cameras in December to have it out for an awards season release in 2017.

            Kate Winslet will be seen this December in Collateral Beauty alongside Will Smith, Keira Knightley, Edward Norton and Helen Mirren. Elba will be in two blockbusters this summer with films like Finding Dory and Star Trek Beyond. He’s also on board to star in The Dark Tower alongside Matthew McConaughey.
