While The BFG hasn’t done well in its run in theaters, maybe another movie about a giant will do better. Today, the trailer for A Monster Calls arrived online. The film is based on the award-winning children’s novel and follows a 12-year-old boy named Conor as he attempts to deal with his mother’s illness and the bullying of his fellow classmates. He does this by escaping into a fantasy world of monsters and fairy tales that explore courage, loss and faith.

The film, visually, looks stunning and truly spectacular. Director J.A. Bayona (The Impossible) looks to have crafted something that could be a thrill for younger audiences, but still be utterly enjoyable for older audiences as well. It seems to have tons of heart and charm while getting across a message to younger people that it’s okay to show emotion and wear your heart on your sleeve.

A Monster Calls stars Lewis MacDougall, Felicity Jones, Sigourney Weaver, Toby Kebbell and Liam Neeson as The Monster. The movie is set to be released on October 21st. Check out the trailer below!
