Back in 2009, John Krasinski made his directorial debut with a film adaptation of David Foster Wallace’s Brief Interviews with Hideous Men; today, we have a trailer for his second effort behind the camera, The Hollars. The star of NBC’s The Office put the film in the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and the movie is being distributed by Sony Pictures Classics.

The movie tells the story of a family who struggles with the mother’s illness. This compels her son, John Hollar (Krasinski) to come back home to his middle-American town from NYC, after which he grapples with his own impending fatherhood in the face of a former love, a high school rival and his dysfunctional family.

The Hollars has an all-star cast that includes Margo Martindale, Richard Jenkins, Sharlto Copley, Anna Kendrick, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and singer, Josh Groban. All in all, the movie looks charming to say the least and I’m excited to see what Krasinski can do as a director in his second go around. Check out the trailer below!
