Kirsten Dunst had a great 2015 with her role in FX series, Fargo which has led to many other opportunities for her including working alongside Michael Shannon in Jeff Nichols’ Midnight Special at the beginning of this year. It seems that now that she is back in the eyes of the public, she’d like to try her best from behind the camera.

According to The Playlist, Dunst directorial debut will be based on Sylvia Path’s The Bell Jar. It’s also known that Dakota Fanning will lead the project. The book is about a young woman who moves to the big city, and grapples with mental illness. The book is known to be semi-autobiographical unfortunately, as Plath would take her own life just a month after the book was published.

Dunst co-wrote the script with Nellie Kim and production is expected to start in early 2017. The Spider-Man actress has high hopes for the film, saying that “I will say that I don’t want it to be just some ‘little indie’. I want it to be a bigger movie.”
