It’s around that time of year where Oscar movies start being released slowly but surely but one film that broke that mold last year was George Miller’s latest, Mad Max: Fury Road. The fourth film in the franchise was released thirty years after the release of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome and though it was released in May 2015, the film was nominated for 10 Academy Awards, winning six.

With the amazing response to the rebooted franchise, it seems that the next movie will start pre-production this year. It’s currently titled, Mad Max: The Wasteland and is set to be a prequel to Fury Road. It’s also said that the script is set to focus on the backstory of Charlize Theron’s character from the last film, Furiosa.

As we stated earlier, this is a big deal as the movie was one of the biggest and best of last year. Even more so because it was an action movie with very little dialogue but it garnered tons of awards and recognition for just how beautiful the film was as a whole. It is also said that Tom Hardy will return in his role for the prequel as well.

How do you guys feel about the announcement for the prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road? Are you excited or do you think the film will be a bit rushed due to an early pre-production date? Let us know and comment!
