One of my favorite novels I read in high school was Catcher and the Rye written by J.D. Salinger but I’ve always been interested in seeing more about J.D. Salinger. Today, we received the first trailer for a film named Coming Through the Rye that follows a young man in a coming-of-age story who wants to put on a play of the legendary novel at his high school but he must get the rights from Salinger.
Alex Wolff plays the lead role of Jamie, who is greatly influenced by the novel and Holden Caufield. He then travels along with a friend to seek out Salinger but as history knows, the reclusive author never allowed the book to be adapted for the screen or stage. Salinger is played by Academy Award winning actor, Chris Cooper within the film.

This little indie film looks like an interesting story and Cooper playing Salinger is perfect casting. Check out the trailer for Coming Through the Rye below. The film will be released on October 14th.
