I’ve been very excited for Aaron Sorkin’s directorial debut since it was announced. He’s one of the most polarizing, important and frankly, best screenwriters in cinematic history. The cast started with Idris Elba and Jessica Chastain, and now according to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Cera is expected to join the cast of Molly’s Game. The film is set to begin production sometime soon and I for one believe that this cast is shaping up to be one of the most random but also intriguing I’ve seen in quite some time.

Molly’s Game tells the story of Molly Bloom, played by Chastain, a former Olympic athlete who becomes a cocktail waitress in Los Angeles. After this, she becomes an organizer of high stakes poker games involving A-list celebrities and Hollywood stars. Bloom eventually forms an interesting relationship with one of the Hollywood elite known as Player X, who Cera will play if he signs on.

Though I am not a big fan of Cera, he actually impressed me with his most recent voice performance in Sausage Party. The actor will be seen next in David Lynch’s reboot of his original TV series, Twin Peaks and also voicing Robin in The Lego Batman Movie which is due out on February 10th, 2017. Molly’s Game is set to be released sometime in 2017.
