First images for 'The Defenders' showcases the Netflix super team and gives a first look at Sigourney Weaver

The rise of Netflix’s Marvel universe has been meteoric. It started just a few years ago with Daredevil and has kept the pace up with other standalone series from Jessica Jones and Luke Cage (even though I was not a big fan of the latter). That will continue with the upcoming Iron Fist and even The Punisher, who has become the best character in this universe since his debut in Daredevil Season 2. Luckily we’ll see four of these heroes brought together in the upcoming Netflix series, The Defenders and the first images for the show have been released by Entertainment Weekly.

            Within the images we get a look at Matt Murdock (Daredevil), Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Danny Rand (Iron Fist) coming together in Hell’s Kitchen to take down the villainous Alexandra who is played by Sigourney Weaver. Also in the first-look photos are Misty Knight from Luke Cage and Colleen Wing from Iron Fist. It’s an exciting prospect to see all of these superheroes coming together for the first time and it’s great to know that it’s only a short time away.

            Check out the images for The Defenders below and the group photo under the headline. The show will release all of its episodes on Netflix in September.
