Duncan Jones has had an interesting path as a director. Though his first couple of films like Moon and Source Code were these great little movies, his latest effort, Warcraft was ripped apart by critics. Now, it seems that Jones is going back to his older roots with his upcoming sci-fi thriller, Mute. We have the first images for the movie below and in the headline.

Mute has been in development for a while now and takes place in Berlin in the year 2052. Alexander Skarsgard plays a mute bartender who lost his ability to speak as a child, when his girlfriend disappears, he goes on a journey to find her. The movie looks to be in the same realm of something like Blade Runner mixed with Drive based on these images. According to the cinematographer Gary Shaw, he says that this movie is the second one in the proposed trilogy that started with Jones’ first feature, Moon. I personally love the look of this movie and I’m very excited to see how it turns out.

Mute will be released on Netflix at some point this year and in addition to Skarsgard, the movie stars Paul Rudd, Justin Theroux and Seyneb Saleh. Check out the images above and below!
