First Trailer for 'The Creator,' Gareth Edwards Long Awaited Follow Up to 'Rogue One' Reveals an A.I. Army Led by a Child

In what appears to be a potential reflection of our current society, The Creator's first trailer gives us a first look at our humanity going to war with artificial intelligence determined to tear down our society.

Within the first teaser for The Creator, which is the first project Gareth Edwards has worked on since Rogue One: A Star Wars Story back in 2016, we see Joshua (John David Washington) as a former special forces officer who is dealing with the disappearance of his wife (Gemma Chan) and is brought in to track down "the Creator," an evasive designer of this advanced AI who is developing a secret weapon with the power to end the war and the human world. That is, until Joshua discovers that the mankind-ending weapon that he's been instructed to destroy is actually an AI in the form of a young boy.

The story and trailer make for an action-packed, sci-fi thrill ride of a film with a terrific ensemble to boot. In addition to Washington and Chan, The Creator also stars Ken Watanabe, Sturgill Simpson, Allison Janney and newcomer Madeleine Yuna Voyles.

Check out the trailer below for The Creator! The film debuts in theaters on September 29.
