Nicolas Cage to Return as Yuri Orlov for 'Lords of War,' Bill Skarsgard to Join Franchise as Orlov's Son

by Darian Scalamoni
Almost twenty years after the first film, Nicolas Cage (Face/Off, Renfield) will return as arms dealer Yuri Orlov in Lords of War, the follow-up to Lord of War, per THR. Additionally, Bill Skarsgard (It, John Wick: Chapter 4) will join the sequel.

The original 2005 crime thriller follows Cage as Orlov, a gun runner who begins to question his work after being chased by an INTERPOL agent, played by Ethan Hawke. Skarsgard joins the cast as Cage's character's son, Anton. Lords of War will chronicle Orlov's discovery of having a child who is trying to top his father's actions rather than try to stop them, as he starts an army to confront the conflicts in the Middle East for America.

Lords of War is due to begin filming this Fall with the film's rights being up for sale at the Cannes Film Market. Andrew Niccol (Gattaca), who wrote and directed the first film will return as well.

Cage most recently played Dracula in Renfield with Nicholas Hoult and Awkwafina. He'll next star in the action-thriller, Sympathy for the Devil with Joel Kinnaman and action-comedy, The Retirement Plan

Skarsgard played the villainous Pennywise in the It films and also most recently played the Marquis, the antagonist in John Wick: Chapter 4. He also appeared in breakout horror hit, Barbarian last year. He's currently in production on Robert Eggers' take on Nosferatu.
