Emma Stone Learns to Be Human First Trailer in Yorgos Lanthimos' Frankenstein-Esque 'Poor Things'

The Favourite was one of my favorite (no pun intended) films of 2018. The director behind the unique and mesmerizing period dramedy, Yorgos Lanthimos is returning to the screen for his follow-up that reunites him with Emma Stone titled Poor Things. That film just released its first trailer a little while ago and now we finally have it up on the site!

Poor Things is an adaptation of the 1992 novel of the same name written by Alasdair Gray, centering around the growing evolution of Bella Baxter (Emma Stone), who is brought back to life by a wretched-faced scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). Though Bella is eager to learn, she is not wholly satisfied with the world as she becomes more immersed within it and attempts to run off with a man named Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo).

I cannot wait to see this movie on the big screen in which could be another awards fare for Lanthimos. In addition to Stone, Dafoe and Ruffalo, Poor Things has a terrific ensemble that further includes Ramy Youssef, Jerrod Carmichael, Christopher Abbott and Margaret Qualley.

Check out the first trailer below for Poor Things which hits theaters everywhere on September 8.
