Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was a revelation not only across animation but film in general following its release in 2018. Fans and pundits alike have been clamoring for a trailer for the sequel and today, the wish has been granted from Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Sony.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will follow Miles (Shameik Moore) as he solidifies himself within his Spider-Man mold from the first film amongst meeting even more Spider-People across the multiverse. The trailer has narration over it from Miles' mother, Rio (Luna Lauren Velez) explaining why it's hard to reckon with her son becoming a man as a hero to many when she was the one that raised him, before making Miles promise to never forget where he came from and making sure he knows where he belongs. Further intercutting the narration are clips of the first film before we get a shot of Miles and Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld) in a new landscape in a world chock full of other variations of Spider-Man before Miles affirms his mother, making the promise that she has asked of him.

The trailer also reveals first looks at Jessica Drew (Issa Rae) and another look at Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac) who appeared in a post-credit scene for the first movie. Miles appears to be in big trouble with the major threat of 2099's Miguel O'Hara shown throwing down in battle with Morales after the Brooklyn-based friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is pulled into the multiverse at the conclusion of the Oscar-winning 2018 movie. It appears the conflict will be on how the respective Spider-People will handle the emergence of the villain, The Spot (Jason Schwartzman) who directors, Joaquin Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson confirmed would appear across the next two franchise installments as the main adversary for the web-slinging heroes.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse releases in theaters on June 2, 2023. The film stars Moore, Steinfeld, Rae, Schwartzman, Isaac, Velez, Jake Johnson, Daniel Kaluuya, Brian Tyree Henry, Greta Lee, Rachel Dratch, Jorma Taccone, and Shea Whigham. Check out the first trailer below!
