As we gear up for awards season here to wrap up 2022, more prestige directors are setting their next features including Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave, Shame) who is set to helm Blitz for Apple. News comes from Deadline about who he'll be casting for the film as 4-time Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan (Little Women, Lady Bird) will lead. Additionally, Harris Dickinson (Triangle of Sadness, Trust), Erin Kellyman (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Solo: A Star Wars Story) and Stephen Graham (Boardwalk Empire, The Irishman) will star alongside her in the film.

Blitz is an ensemble drama that will follow Londoners throughout the Blitz of World War I. McQueen, who will produce, write and direct the film, previously won an Academy Award for Best Picture for 12 Years a Slave as well as the BAFTA award for Best Film for the slave drama as well. The film is expected to begin filming before the industry turns the page to 2023.

Ronan has been nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Academy Awards on three separate occasions for Little Women, Lady Bird and Brooklyn. Additionally, she was nominated for the film, Atonement at age 13 for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role. She most recently appeared in the crime caper, See How They Run in 2022 alongside Dickinson and will also star in Foe with Paul Mescal and Aaron Pierre in 2023.

Dickinson first came on the scene with his lead role in the FX drama, Trust as John Paul Getty III. Since then, he's collaborated multiple times with directors such as Joanna Hogg on The Souvenir Part II, Ruben Ostlund on Triangle of Sadness and Matthew Vaughn for the Kingsman franchise in the prequel, The King's Man alongside Ralph Fiennes and Djimon Hounsou. Dickinson will headline another upcoming FX series, Retreat with Emma Corrin and Clive Owen. It's also been rumored that Dickinson could be in the running (no pun intended) to take over The Flash within the DCU under James Gunn and Peter Safran's new leadership following the controversy surrounding Ezra Miller.

Kellyman is no stranger to the limelight as the young actress has already appeared in major franchises for Disney. She has already appeared in two Disney+ shows for the house of mouse playing the villain in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier before heading to Willow this year as the character, Jade Claymore. However, she burst onto the scene in 2018, for playing Enfys Nest within the Star Wars universe in the spinoff film, Solo: A Star Wars Story.
