Pedro Pascal to Star in 'Weapons,' Zach Cregger's Follow-Up to 'Barbarian'

Pedro Pascal has been everywhere this year. Despite getting his first taste at a major IP with his unforgettable role in Game of Thrones as Oberyn Martell, Pascal's stock has risen to massive heights over the last few years. Recently he was at the Met Gala, and he's been the watcher over two young people on television (one being a Jedi-in-training). Now, he's working with a hot, up-and-coming filmmaker which could be a true match made for cinephile heaven.

According to an exclusive from The Hollywood Reporter, Pascal will star in Weapons, the latest film from Zach Cregger, who surprised many in 2022 with his breakout surprise horror hit, Barbarian. That movie made $65 million at the box-office against a budget of only $4 million marking it as a massive success, and getting Cregger into business with New Line, who won a bidding war for his services with Weapons.

Weapons' plot details are currently under lock-and-key; however, industry insiders describe that the film will be an interconnected horror epic that plays akin to that of Paul Thomas Anderson's 1999 film, Magnolia spanning multiple characters and stories over the length of the film. Many great actors are lining up to work with Cregger so it's not a surprise that someone of Pascal's caliber has signed onto this project.

Pascal joined a galaxy far, far away back in 2019 playing Din Djarin in The Mandalorian. That series acted as the flagship program back when Disney+ launched, now, the series that also stars Katee Sackhoff, Carl Weathers and Giancarlo Esposito that takes place within the Star Wars universe just wrapped its third season. Additionally, Pascal also leads the HBO video game adaptation, The Last of Us, which has been one of the biggest shows of 2023 thus far.

Pascal is one of the busiest actors in the business with a ton of additional projects on the horizon. First, he'll star in the Western short film, Strange Way of Life with Ethan Hawke, which will be directed by Pedro Almodovar (The Skin I Live In). He'll also have a role in Ethan Coen's upcoming road-trip comedy, Drive-Away Dolls. Pascal is also a part of the starry ensemble for Gladiator 2 alongside Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan and Denzel Washington, and recently wrapped Freaky Tales, an anthological drama film that also features Jack Champion and Angus Cloud.
