Michael B. Jordan & Ryan Coogler to Reunited on 1930s Vampire Movie for Warner Bros.

Frequent collaborators Michael B. Jordan (Creed) and Ryan Coogler (Black Panther) are reuniting once again for an original film that Warner Bros. bid on and ultimately won the package. The currently untitled pic will be written and directed by Coogler and star Jordan in what's being described as a "period genre film," however, many have speculated it is a movie centering around vampires in the 1930s.

Coogler's Proximity Media production company will produce with filming slated to begin in April. Michael B. Jordan has appeared in every single one of Coogler's feature films since 2013 from Fruitvale Station to being the titular character in the Creed franchise, as well as playing the villainous Erik Killmonger in the Black Panther movies. This is a nice departure away from blockbuster fare for Coogler, who's last three projects were all attached to larger IP. Coogler is also producing an animated series for Disney+ and Marvel, Eyes of Wakanda that is currently in production. Coogler directed Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in 2022, which grossed more than $800 million at the box-office.

Michael B. Jordan sat in the director's chair for the very first time with 2023's Creed III. He was praised for his unique directing style, with some of the boxing sequences having an anime flare, heavily based on Jordan's love of the medium. He'll next direct Creed IV. In addition to returning on screen as Adonis Creed, MBJ has I Am Legend 2 on the docket as his next project. Francis Lawrence is directing that one with rumors saying that John Boyega will join the feature soon as well. He's also set to return as John Clark in Rainbow Six.
