Yes, it's true, after nearly thirty years between sequels, it seems that Disney is actively in development on Hocus Pocus 3.

The Sanderson sisters, played by Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker are in talks to return for a third film within the franchise following the massive success accrued on Disney+ with Hocus Pocus 2 this past September. The news was originally confirmed by Sean Bailey, President of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production in an interview with The New York Times.

Hocus Pocus 2 set streaming records for Disney+ with 2.7 billion minutes of viewing as the highly anticipated return for the witchy sisters generated a massive boost in subscribers for the streaming service as well. Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, Step Up) directed the sequel which followed the original 1993 hit that follows the trio of witches who are accidentally brought back to life by a teenage boy on Halloween night. It's widely regarded as one of the best Halloween films ever, although not a box-office hit when it was first released, it earned a massive following during its airings on cable channels such as Disney Channel and ABC Family.

While the film is in active development with the three stars set to return, there is no further information on plot, crew or additional cast. However, be sure to check back here at Cinema Wave as more information becomes available!
