First Red-Band Trailer for 'Kraven the Hunter' Stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the Brutal Hunter of Evil Whose Out for Blood in the Sony-Marvel Film

Sony has decided to take their live-action Spider-Verse and base it almost entirely around the adversaries of Spider-Man. This slate of films started back in 2018 with Venom and though that movie did very well at the box-office while featuring an interesting take on Eddie Brock from Tom Hardy, it hasn't lived up to the MCU collaboration they have with Tom Holland's Peter Parker. Morbius followed last year (and was a massive dud) but they're hoping for more success with their upcoming origin story for Kraven the Hunter.

The first trailer changes his origin a bit from the comics as Sergei Kravinoff (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) is attacked by a lion in his youth. Similar to Spider-Man, he gets a drop of the lion's blood into his own bloodstream giving him superhuman abilities that are similar to apex predatory animals. What makes this film different though is that its Sony's first R-rated comic book film in the Spider-Man universe and due to its violence throughout, it absolutely seems worthy of its mature rating. The action seems brutal, and the film features a heck of an ensemble that also includes Russell Crowe, Ariana DeBose, Alessandro Nivola (who we get a tease as The Rhino), Fred Hechinger and Christopher Abbott.

Check out the first blood-spilled red band trailer for Kraven the Hunter below! The film hits theaters everywhere on October 6.
