The
remake of Stephen King’s It has had
its fair share of problems since being announced. The film has been in the
works for years, originally set to be directed by Cary Fukunaga (True Detective, Beasts of No Nation) before he backed out due to creative
differences. Mama director, Andy
Muscietti is now set to direct Hemlock
Grove actor Bill Skarsgard and today, Entertainment Weekly has released the
first image of Pennywise.
Tim
Curry was the first Pennywise in the original TV movie adaptation of It so Skarsgard has big shoes to fill.
Originally, Bloodline actor, Ben
Mendelsohn was set to play the iconic horror role before Rogue One scheduling took him out of contention. Then, The Revenant actor Will Poulter signed
on but after Fukunaga left, he also bolted.
The

The film revolves around the characters as kids when they first encounter
Pennywise. It opens in theaters on
September 8th, 2017.
