Jaume Collet-Serra (Run All Night, Orphan) has been flying under the radar for years with solid feature films including last year’s surprise, The Shallows but now, he has a huge upcoming movie. According to Collider, Collet-Serra will direct Waco for Annapurna Pictures which is also set to be written by Mark Boal (Zero Dark Thirty, The Hurt Locker) and Marc Haimes (Kubo and the Two Strings).

This prestige film also acts as one of the jumping off films for Annapurna as they enter the distribution circus of Hollywood with Kathryn Bigelow’s Detroit being their first this August. They’ve produced some masterful movies over the best five years or so with The Master, Her, American Hustle, 20th Century Women and Everybody Wants Some!! just to name a few. The movie will recount the 1993 standoff between the FBI and Texas law enforcement that lead to a 51-day standoff that led to 76 deaths.

Collet-Serra will reunite with Liam Neeson for their fourth film together in January with The Commuter. The film has a fairly strong cast in addition to Neeson with Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Jonathan Banks and Sam Neill. Do you think Collet-Serra will be able to handle his biggest project to date?
