Jessica Chastain is one of the best dramatic actresses in the biz today but she hasn’t done well in her limited blockbuster fare. The multi-time Oscar-nominated actress recently appeared in Huntsman: Winter’s War (which was not the right choice for her) but now, she’s jumping into the comic book waters for her next try. According to THR, Chastain is in talks to star in X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

Chastain will play the villain of the movie, Princess Lilandra who rules the alien race, Shi’ar. Not only that, but veterans of the series, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence will return for the movie as well. The movie will revolve around Sophie Turner’s Jean Grey character from X-Men: Apocalypse though. Simon Kinberg, who wrote X-Men Apocalypse, X-Men: Days of Future Past and Sherlock Holmes, will make his directorial debut for the film.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is expected to be one of Fox’s biggest upcoming movies and will open on November 2nd, 2018. Chastain will appear in Woman Walks Ahead with Sam Rockwell and Ciaran Hinds later this year. She’ll also star in Aaron Sorkin’s directorial debut, Molly’s Game alongside Idris Elba, Kevin Costner and Michael Cera.
