First Trailer for Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer' Gives an Explosive Look at the Man who Created the Atomic Bomb

Christopher Nolan is one of those directors where the name value alone in the filmmaker sells the movie. Despite a stretch that included an incredible Batman trilogy, the remarkable dream-based thriller Inception and the decades-spanning sci-fi epic Interstellar, his last movie had some issues due to the timing of its release. Tenet, which starred Robert Pattinson, John David Washington and Elizabeth Debicki was released during the COVID-19 pandemic and didn't do the same numbers that Nolan is accustomed for his films, however, something tells me his latest feature will do great numbers for his new distributor, Universal.

This past weekend, Nolan released the first trailer for his upcoming biopic on J. Robert Oppenheimer, also known as the man who created the atomic bomb. Following Nolan's exit from longtime collaborator Warner Bros., there was a lot of attention to his assumed "free agent" status. Companies such as Sony and Apple also vied for his services before Universal agreed to bring in the tentpole filmmaker. Oppenheimer stars Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders, Inception) who has previously collaborated with Nolan before, however, this film serves as his first starring role on the big screen in quite a long time. However, Murphy is joined by an absolute all-star cast that includes Robert Downey Jr., Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Gary Oldman, Kenneth Branagh, Rami Malek, Casey Affleck, Dane DeHaan and many, many more.

Check out the first trailer for Christopher Nolan's latest film, Oppenheimer below! The film releases in cinemas on July 21, 2023.
