Netflix seems to have found their answer to Yellowstone with the announcement of an upcoming limited series. According to a report from Above the Line, Taylor Kitsch (John Carter, Friday Night Lights) is set to star in American Primeval for the streamer where he will re-team with frequent collaborator, Peter Berg (Lone Survivor, Patriots Day).

The series is set to be an adventurous drama that will see a man named Isaac, played by Kitsch, who's described as a traumatized man struggling to overcome his demons and find a reason to live in this brutal and punishing world. Isaac is one of the characters who sets to explore the birth of the American west. The western vibe gives Netflix a similar vibe to Yellowstone, but it may act more as its own version of the prequel series on the Dutton family, 1883. Mark L. Smith (The Revenant, The Midnight Sky) will write the show for Netflix.

As alluded earlier, this is far from the first collaboration between Kitsch and Berg. Their most well-known team up was with the beloved TV football drama, Friday Night Lights, which was developed by Berg and starred Kitsch as fullback Tim Riggins. Additionally, Kitsch starred in military drama, Lone Survivor and boardgame turned actioner adaptation, Battleship for Berg as well. Berg also has another limited series for Netflix titled Painkiller, which covers the origins of the opioid crisis which Kitsch will also appear in alongside Uzo Aduba and Matthew Broderick.

What do you guys think of the news of the limited series, American Primeval? Do you think this series could compete with Yellowstone? Are you a fan of the previous collaborations from Kitsch and Berg? Let us know in the comments!
