Mary Elizabeth Winstead Rumored to Play Hera Syndulla in Disney+ series, 'Ahsoka'

    2023 aims to be a big year for Star Wars on streaming with the return of The Mandalorian, introduction of new characters in Skeleton Crew and the live-action solo series following Ahsoka Tano simply titled, Ahsoka. It was reported by The Hollywood Reporter almost a year ago back in January that Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Birds of Prey, 10 Cloverfield Lane) had joined the cast of as the aforementioned series and now, according to a dedicated Star Wars site, we have news on who she is rumored to play.

According to Bespin Bulletin, it's rumored that Winstead will be playing Hera Syndulla in Ahsoka. This report comes following news that within the trailer shown at this year's Star Wars Celebration, it was confirmed that Syndulla would be in the series, however, this is the first news indicating that Winstead will play the Twi'lek revolutionary. Syndulla appears as one of the lead characters of the animated series, Star Wars Rebels which was created by Dave Filoni, who is writing and directing Ahsoka, so it makes sense to introduced Syndulla to live-action in this show. There is also speculation that the series will act as "a continuation" to Rebels adding to the speculation that Winstead would be a perfect choice to play the character.

    Winstead will appear in the series alongside Rosario Dawson, who will reprise her live-action portrayal of Ahsoka from The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. Additionally, other Rebels characters such as Sabine Wren, Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn will also appear in the series played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Eman Esfandi and Lars Mikkelsen, respectively. Franchise staple Hayden Christensen is also set to return as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in the show. Ahsoka is due to hit Disney+ in 2023 with a rumored release date at some point in the Spring.
