With all of Hollywood’s
greatest talents heading to the television, it’s no surprise that today Hollywood
Reporter reports that Ewan McGregor, best known for his role as Obi-Wan
Kenobi in the Star Wars franchise,
has been signed on to lead season 3 of the FX Drama series, Fargo. The report also notes that McGregor
will be playing two separate characters on the show as Emmitt and Ray Stussy;
two brothers who are not twins.
The
anthology series is arguably one of the best and most well-received dramas on
television today and was created by Noah Hawley. Hawley is also known for
creating the FOX series, Bones and is
developing the comic-book show for FX titled Legion. The Fargo television
series also exists within the universe of the movie of the same name created by
the Coen Brothers.
Season
3 of the Emmy winning television show will follow Emmit Stussy, the parking lot
king of Minnesota. A handsome, self-made, real estate mogul and family man,
Emmit sees himself as an American success story. His slightly younger brother,
Ray Stussy, on the other hand is more of a cautionary tale. Production on this
season of Fargo will begin later this
year as season 3 will debut sometime in 2017.
