The first three months of
the year are usually a dumping ground for studios and their feature films but last
February, 20th Century Fox released Kingsman: The Secret Service which was a massive success. It
shouldn’t be much of a surprise though as the movie was based on a comic book
of the same name. Due to the $414 million gross in the box office, the studio
had ordered a sequel turning Kingsman
into a franchise, and the cast is rapidly growing.
According to Deadline,
Jeff Bridges has signed on to Kingsman:
The Golden Circle. No character details have surfaced thus far but the
addition of “The Dude” is certainly a welcomed one. Bridges hasn’t appeared in
a movie since the epic failure of The
Seventh Son back in 2014. He also recently signed on to the untitled
firefighter film also starring Josh Brolin, Miles Teller and Taylor Kitsch.
Bridges
joins an already electric cast featuring Channing Tatum, Halle Berry, Julianne
Moore, Elton John and the returning Taron Egerton and Mark Strong. The plot of
the movie is as follows; Superspy Gary “Eggsy” Unwin (Taron Egerton) and his
supervisor (Mark Strong) head to the US to join forces with the “Statesman”,
the Kingsman agency in America after the destruction of Kingsman HQ at the
hands of the evil Poppy (Julianne Moore).
The
film is due to hit theaters June 16th, 2017.
