With the
current nature of the movie industry being saturated with comic book films it’s
no surprise that a report has surfaced per, The Hollywood Reporter, that Warner
Bros. is developing a female-centric comic book that will heavily feature
Margot Robbie’s portrayal of Harley Quinn. We will see the character first in Suicide Squad, which comes to theaters
in August that follows a team of villains put together by the government to
take down The Joker.
Though
Robbie is expected to be the star in the film, she is also producing, yet, the
project won’t revolve completely around Harley Quinn as it will also focus on
several other DC Comics’ female heroes and villains. Current rumors attached to
the project say that names such as Batgirl and Birds of Prey might be included
but the current extent of how involved they are is still unknown.
Robbie
was able to bring in a writer quickly who is working on the script as we speak,
though the identity of the writer is not known at this time but we do know that
she is female.
This isn’t
the only project that the Australian actress has upcoming, along with the Suicide Squad film in August, she also
plays Jane in The Legend of Tarzan
coming out in July, as well as recently signed on to play iceskater, Tonya
Harding, in a film titled I, Tonya.
