The
Joe Paterno biopic that HBO has been developing for years has just begun
filming. Legendary, Oscar winning-actor, Al Pacino is set to play the late Penn
State football coach and the premium network has revealed a first look image of
Pacino as Paterno which you can see above.
The currently
untitled project, directed by Barry Levinson (The Wizard of Lies, Sleepers) is based on the winningest coach in
college football history who deals with the sexual abuse scandal by assistant coach,
Jerry Sandusky which challenges his legacy and has him answering questions
regarding the victims. It’s pretty remarkable how much Pacino looks like
Paterno and I’m enticed to see how this film will turn out.
Check
out the first image of Pacino above! The movie also stars Riley Keough, Kathy
Baker, Greg Grunberg and Annie Parisse. The movie currently doesn’t have an
official release date but expect it to air on HBO at some point in 2018.
