We’ve
seen the Kennedy’s in many different biopics over the years whether it be John,
Robert and even Jackie, as she got her film treatment this past year for which
Natalie Portman was nominated for Best Actress at the Academy Awards. Now,
Robert F. Kennedy is getting another movie based on his life, but this time,
there’s some pretty A-list talent attached. According to The
Tracking Board, Matt Damon will play the iconic politician in RFK which will also be directed by
Nikolaj Arcel, whose latest movie, The
Dark Tower hits theaters in just a couple of weeks.
The
movie will cover all the years of Robert F. Kennedy’s life, the younger brother
of John F. Kennedy. He served as the U.S. Attorney General under both JFK and
President Lyndon B. Johnson before becoming a Senator in 1965 until he was assassinated
in June 1968. Damon has been wanting to do this movie for many years now, being
one of his many passion projects and it looks to move full speed ahead now that
Arcel is attached to direct. Expect the film to be in the thick of the 2018
awards race if the movie debuts before the end of next year.
Damon
has some high-profile releases upcoming as he’ll star in Downsizing, the latest from Alexander Payne that also stars Kristen
Wiig, Laura Dern and Christoph Waltz. He’ll also star in George Clooney’s
latest titled Suburbicon which also
stars Oscar Isaac and Julianne Moore. Both of those movies are expected to be
big players in the upcoming Oscar race.
What
do you guys think about this movie finally coming together with Damon attached
to play RFK? Do you think Nikolaj Arcel is the right guy to direct this film?
