In
what has been quite possibly the busiest week in the industry, we have tons of
news, trailers and casting announcements so we’ll start with one that dropped
just a couple of days ago. According to Collider,
the classic sci-fi/horror movie, Invasion
of the Body Snatchers is getting a remake at Warner Bros.
The
original 1978 movie is regarded as one of the best horror movies of all-time
and follows a group of people who discover that the human race is being
replaced by aliens who are clones. It starred Donald Sutherland, Brooke Adams,
Jeff Goldblum, Veronica Cartwright and Leonard Nimoy and is a classic of
Hollywood. The studio has recruited David Leslie Johnson, who’s worked closely
with the studio in the past, to write the script. He wrote Orphan, The Conjuring 2 and is working on the third installment for
The Conjuring as well so he’s dealt
with horrific territory before.
I
think this is a great time to remake this classic movie but I just hope the new
take takes advantage of the unique storyline provided in the original. Johnson
being attached to write is also a good get for Warner Bros. so now all we have
to do is wait on cast and a director!
