In what comes as not very shocking news at all, Deadline reports that Jon Watts will return to direct the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming. The most recent incarnation of the popular superhero has netted almost $500 million thus far and got sparkling reviews for the first collaboration between Marvel Studios and Sony.

Tom Holland will return as Peter Parker for the sequel but will first appear in Avengers: Infinity War on May 4th. This is great news but expected, as Watts’ has garnered great critical acclaim for what many are labeling Homecoming as the best Spider-Man movie to date. I thoroughly enjoyed the recent take on Spider-Man and think Watts’ style added to the overall enjoyment of the movie.

Now, the speculation begins on who will be in the sequel in terms of characters. Who will be the villain? Rumors have been speculating that Kraven the Hunter and Mysterio are some names that are being floated around but we’ll have to wait and see ultimately which character Spidey will battle next.
