First Teaser for 'Daisy Jones & the Six' Reveals the Band Rise & Fall from Fame
by Darian Scalamoni
Daisy Jones & The Six had a massive rollout via Vanity Fair that we here at Cinema Wave covered back in December. However, now, just weeks before the premiere on Amazon Prime Video, the streamer has released a short teaser for the story based on the best-selling novel. Though the preview only runs a little over a minute, there are tons of glimpses throughout that give the scope, tone and format to which this show will operate on for Amazon. We see in the trailer a moment where the lead character of Daisy Jones (played by Riley Keough) is giving an interview to the fallout of the music group, which looks like it could be shot in a style that is a similar, but more dramatic version of something like This Is Spinal Tap via documentary style. The series won't just operate in that style however, as the show teases on-stage and off-stage moments between Jones and the other band members including Billy Dunne (played by Sam Claflin).
Daisy Jones & the Six tells the story of the fictional band's rise to fame and subsequent fall from grace through drugs, sex and rock-n-roll. Set in the 1970s, the band is similar to that of Fleetwood Mac in their makeup by having multiple female members along with a quartet of male members as well. If you're a fan of 70s music, acclaimed adaptations and just pure drama, this show looks to be aimed for you. I think it should be a big hit for Amazon and I'm looking forward to watching it this March.
Daisy Jones & the Six will stream as a five-episode limited series on Amazon Prime Video beginning on March 3 with a two-episode premiere. Every subsequent episode will drop one at a time until the finale on March 24. The show stars Keough, Claflin, Timothy Olyphant, Camila Morrone, Will Harrison, Sebastian Chacon, Josh Whitehouse, Nabiyah Be, Jacqueline Obradors and Tom Wright. The series is also directed by James Ponsoldt (The Spectacular Now, The End of the Tour). Check out the teaser below for Daisy Jones & the Six!
