Demetri Martin has been one of the most unique minds in stand-up comedy over the last few years. Starting as a writer on Late Night with Conan O’Brien and getting his own comedy show on Comedy Central has led to his first feature film effort titled Dean and the first trailer has just been released.

The movie chronicles through loss, grief and redemption through the power of love as Dean, a NYC illustrator falls hard for a woman from Los Angeles after taking a spontaneous trip to the West Coast. While this is happening, he’s trying to stop his father from selling his childhood home in wake of his mother’s passing. The film won Best Narrative Feature at last year’s Tribeca Film Festival and it looks like for good reason after seeing this trailer. The movie looks to tell a simple story that will pay off in dividends with the script and cast that Martin has assembled.

Check out the trailer below for Dean! The movie opens on June 2nd and stars Martin, Gillian Jacobs, Mary Steenburgen and Kevin Kline.
