There has been plenty of controversy surrounding the feature film adaptation of the 1995 anime series, Ghost in the Shell ever since the casting of an American woman, Scarlett Johansson portraying an Asian woman. Since then, the controversy has died down in part to the visuals of the trailers truly encompassing the true spirit of the original and we’ve just got a new trailer for the film that expands on the narrative.

Ghost in the Shell follows an elite team of Section 9 and their mission to take out dangerous, high-tech criminals, Johansson portrays The Major. Within this new trailer, we get a better look at the visual effects we expect to see in the final product with an even better look at Michael Pitt’s character, Kuze. The sci-fi actioner continues to impress me and I’m excited to see the finished product in theaters.

Check out the new trailer for Ghost in the Shell below! The movie opens in theaters on March 31st. Ghost in the Shell stars Johansson, Pitt, Pilou Asbaek, Beat Takeshi, Juliette Binoche, Kaori Momoi and Rila Fukushima.
