Though it’s been quite a while since we’ve seen Sofia Coppola (Lost in Translation, Somewhere) behind the camera in a major motion picture, she seems to be changing pace with her upcoming film. Today, the first trailer was released for Coppola’s upcoming remake of the 1971 film, The Beguiled.

The Beguiled is based on the novel written by Thomas Cullinan of the same name and follows a Civil War Union Army soldier that is found hurt in the woods by a young woman as he’s brought back to a seminary and nursed back to health. The seminary for young ladies is headed by a headmistress before the soldier kicks of a tale that involves seduction and jealousy throughout the school. This trailer was perfect for me and I don’t want to see anymore heading into the movie. The cast is terrific led by Colin Farrell and recent Oscar-nominee, Nicole Kidman but the plot is steamy and the story looks completely different from anything else Coppola has tried to capture before from behind the camera.

Check out the teaser trailer below for The Beguiled. The movie stars Farrell, Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, Elle Fanning, Angourie Rice and Oona Laurence. The Beguiled opens in theaters on June 30th.
