With Ryan Murphy constantly in the news for his plethora of projects, its no surprise that he’s moving quickly with the casting for Season 3 of American Crime Story focused on the murder of Gianni Versace by serial killer Andrew Cunanan. According to Variety, Edgar Ramirez and Darren Criss will play Versace and Cunanan respectively in the anthology series.

Versace: American Crime Story will be the follow-up season after Katrina: American Crime Story which will revolve around the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and how the United States government dealt with the situation in New Orleans. Annette Bening was recently cast as the lead for Season 2. Versace was murdered on the porch of his Miami home in 1997 by Cunanan, who had also killed five others that year before killing himself on a house boat, eight days following Versace’s murder.

Ramirez was seen most recently in the Matthew McConaughey starring film, Gold. He also had lead roles in Joy and Girl on the Train in the last few years. Criss will reunite with Murphy as he was a regular on Murphy’s series Glee as well as appear in a few episodes of American Horror Story. There are no other casting announcements as of yet, though we can denounce that Lady Gaga, who was once rumored to play Donatella Versace will not play the role due to her touring schedule.
